Transform Your Mindset: Reprogram Your Brain for Success

My success story took time to happen. I grew up poor. I went to school, got a job, and wanted to make money, but I needed to gain knowledge or real skills. I needed to reprogram my brain to become successful. Today, I want to share with you exactly how I did that.

The Power of Words

The first thing I had to realize was the power of words. One positive or one negative word can immediately affect someone’s entire day and significantly impact your subconscious and how you think. Your inner voice is essential. What words are you using to describe yourself, even if you might not be conscious of it? Positive words can inspire, motivate, and even heal, while negative words can cause harm, pain, and damage. Paying attention to your words is extremely important.

The Two Wolves Story

There’s a Cherokee Indian legend illustrating the most important battle of our lives – the one between good and bad within us. An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he told the boy. “It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One is evil, filled with anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good, filled with joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” The grandson thought about this for a minute and asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.” This story is about self-awareness and the inner conflict we all have. Many of us need to pay more attention to our thoughts. Whatever is going on in your own head, right or wrong, it’s your programming. I had to unlearn and then relearn or reprogram my brain.

From Limiting Beliefs to Abundance Thinking

Growing up, I had many limiting beliefs, especially about money. My parents always said, “We can’t afford that,” it was true; they couldn’t. So, I had to change my mindset from “I can’t afford that” to “How can I afford that?” This shift from scarcity to abundance thinking was powerful.

Most people try to manage their expenses by cutting out small luxuries, but the key to freedom is creating multiple passive income streams. This way, the costs will be taken care of themselves. Managing expenses is essential, but focusing on income is crucial.

Reprogramming Your Thoughts

To change your thoughts, you need to address your inner critic. Be aware and present about what you are experiencing. One of the greatest books I read by Anthony DeMello, Awareness, emphasizes the need for a reality check. Who are you? What do you represent? How are your relationships and health? Self-awareness is crucial.

Even the Bible says in Proverbs 4:23, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” I learned to observe my thoughts without analyzing or arguing with them. Just be aware and present.

Replacing Scarcity with Abundance

Lastly, I looked at the actual words I was using. Initially, my words were scarcity-based. Words like “can’t,” “try,” “never,” “no,” and “don’t” were limiting me. Replacing these words with abundant language made a significant difference.

Changing your hard wiring or reprogramming takes time. Start with small wins, and you will see significant changes over time. The world will open up, and more abundance will start pouring in.
